i have looked at a few different sms server package gammu

have install 3.0 iso on a server . went very smooth ..

a few questions on which package to install

1. it looks like a sms client is already installed on the bass install of pandora ?
smssend is already in /usr/bin/ , so do i need to install gammu ?
2. if i install gammu what is the best way to install it .
3. once i install gammu can i recieve responses from outside ?
meaning i would like to be able to send a acknowlegement to the server that i am aware of the alert and to lets say stop sending me alert for 60 min ?

thanks

ok got it working again after i restarted it is not restarting the smsd -c path_to_config_file/smsd.conf

after i directed it to the correct path again it works like a charm so I have
2 questions

1 . how do i make this stick . smsd -c path_to_config_file/smsd.conf
everytime i restart the server i have to manually restart  smsd -c otherwise it doesnt start

2 . how do i create a alert monitor in pandora to monitor this and if for some reason it is not working , i would like pandora to restart the service

Just a fyi not sure why this is but .

in the alert commands the default sms settings i think are wrong ?

the command line states sendsms_field1__field2  which is how you state we are suppose to send sms messages though if i do this from the command line it is a unknow command

so i edited it to read smssend _field1__field2 and that works

is this a error or did my install not go correctly ?

It depends on the distro your using, some smsd implementations/package uses a different wrapper script to call the command to send sms. What distro/install method are you using ?
